Tijs Michiel Verwest, better known as Tiësto (born January 17, 1969 in Breda, Netherlands) is a Dutch DJ and record producer who is one of the most popular DJs in the world today, with his albums In My Memory, which reached number one on the Belgian album chart as well as Billboard Top Electronic Albums in the U.S., Just Be, which reached number one on the Belgian album chart as well as Billboard Top Electronic Albums in the U.S. His 2000 remix of Delerium's "Silence (Delerium song)" featuring Sarah McLachlan was played at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, the first remix to be played live on stage at an Olympics.
